A recent graduate of the University of Oxford, he became immersed in the student musical theatre scene while studying music, shaping his distinctive, dramaturgical approach to songwriting. His influences span Stephen Sondheim, Jacques Brel, Ray Davies and David Bowie, alongside the harmonic worlds of Poulenc and Ravel and the cinematic sweep of Michael Legrand’s film scores.
